I have many old photos of my father taken at different times. This photo was taken during his childhood. It is undated. He is standing in the front row, in the center.
I have been a Hazzan for more than twenty years. I studied voice in Italy with Alexander Bellini and liturgy with three Cantors here in the States. I have learned the most just listening to the work of Leibele Waldman who I consider the best "ZUGER" of all. His vocal range, flawless coloratura, the ability to produce a falcetto from full voice and his improvisations puts him in a class all by himself. I recently heard some "live" compositions which convinced me that he was unsurpassed at the UMED (pulpit).
